0 Breaking Up Isn’t (always) Hard to Do
Makes me want to get a girlfriend just so we can write our own break-up song. I feel bad for them but what an awesome way to deal with the whole thing. RIP Johnathan and Ivory.

0 People we saw at FYF 2012
The flowerhouse boys spent Labor Day weekend in LA enjoying two full days of music at the 9th Annual FYF festival. The weekend boasted a talented line-up of indie bands (new and old) and seemed to offer something for just about everyone. Acts we saw included: Sleigh Bells, Purity Ring, Yeasayer, Twin Shadow, Glass Candy, Father John Misty, and more. Suffice to say that we saw some great bands, heard some great music, and had a terrific time out in LaLa land. As such, we thought we’d give you a taste from the ground floor of the festival.

1 James Petralli Brings the Covers
James Petralli had a fun weekend. Not only did he find an old Tascam porta-studio in his garage, but he actually decided to record a few songs on it! (full disclosure, I owned one of these back in the day. we used to call it the trashcam it was so noisy) Anyhoo, soliciting requests through the White Denim facebook page, James quickly worked up 6 covers and released them Sunday for free!
Now, normally beggers can’t be choosers (I’m sure that fans of White Denim would have been happy with any new material from the boys) but James outdoes himself here covering the likes of Stevie Wonder, the White Strips, Elvis Costello, and Neil Young to name a few.
Given the quick turnaround, the songs themselves are stripped down versions of the originals and you shouldn’t expect more than some overlayed guitar work and ping-ponged vocals. That said, the simplicity somehow fits the low-fidelity sound of the Tascam recorder and, all in all, makes for a novel sounding collection of covers.
Enjoy.
